Ocean

I’ll wash up on this shore
Again and again (not)withstanding the waves
Pulling me closer
Pushing me away
But my tide will come in in its own right

Ours is the twilight,
Beloved, that austere sincerity
Embellished by dawn
Embracing the day
For the night is long past

So rise, rise,
Let us return to life
Emerge from our sleep
Transcend our understanding
Of what is happening to us

We spin, spin,
The pace was up
It brought us down
To be kind to ourselves
Now we’re faced with displacement

The longing remains
Refrains, reframes what we feel
Churning deep waters
We’re part of the Ocean

I carry you with me, within
More than aware we need time to adjust
If we are to take this any further
